It was our great pleasure to get to meet #GIUAS's potential students, who we aim to develop into the #fashion_industry #pioneers. Along with their parents, the applicants were welcomed by H.E. Mr. Julius Georg Luy, GIU AS Chairman of Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mansour, GIU AS Co-Chairman of Board of Trustees, Academic Founding President Prof. Dr. Matthias Knaut, Prof. Katrin Hinz Founding Dean of the Faculty of Design, who were all very keen to introduce to applicants the prospects of the GIUAS Faculty of Design. Attending this session were also Prof. Dr. Birgit Weller, Professor in Industrial Design & Product Design at HTW Berlin University of Applied Sciences and Prof. Dr. Horst Fetzer, Professor for Fashion and Design at HTW Berlin University of Applied Sciences.
In the course of this orientation they explained how the Fashion Design degree program will qualify fashion design students in various areas of fashion design, costume design, and textile design as well as inspire graduates of this faculty to become innovative trend setters and creators of international brands offering inspirational fashion lines to key iconic figures in Egypt, the region and the world. In addition, they also highlighted how this program transfers artistic skills and techniques from conception to design and product realization.
A strong emphasis was exceptionally made to elaborate further on how the Fashion Design concept focuses on development and manufacturing, menswear, knitwear, fashion marketing, and business management. Students discover how in the course of their study period at GIUAS, students will be able to develop their skills to become industry experts and consultants by learning how to analyze consumer trends that ultimately influence inventory purchases.
