The Faculty of Design/ Fashion Design Department invites applications for the following position effective September 2024


Full Professor / Associate Professor / Lecturer in Fashion Design, Design Basics, Conceptual Collection Design and Sustainability.


Job profile:

Candidates with a minimum of 3 years of academic or pedagogic experience, as well as a minimum of three years of professional experiences in a design company, production workshop or as a freelancer in the field of international fashion design.

Qualifications:

The candidate is expected to:
• Hold a MA university degree or above and extensive work experience.
in a related discipline of fashion design / clothing company (minimum 3 years).
• Have comprehensive knowledge in design methodology and processes.
• Master extensive creative methods and knowledge, qualification and practical work experience in the field of conceptual fashion design and how to create a collection.
• Have practical experience to all steps of conception, design, procurement, resources and the typical events and trade shows.

Requirements:

• Training in craftsmanship and the ability to technically implement of the designs, materials, silhouettes are desirable.
• Experience and awareness in the fields of sustainability and all aspects of the supply chain is desirable, as well as demonstrating a strong position in the question of cultural appropriation.
• Capacity to critically adapt to cultural differences and cultural specificities of the context of the institution as well as to assimilate within the local industry is appreciated, encouraged and required.
• Knowledge about Entrepreneurship as well as international professional experience is desirable.
• Experience in a comparable teaching position is desirable.
• High ability to develop pedagogical innovations and to manage a study program.
• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
• High proficiency in the English language (oral and written) as it is the official teaching language.
• High willingness to get involved in academic self-administration and to take on leadership.

The most interesting candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence and applied teaching. It is further expected that different approaches and methods can be used to develop either conceptual, creative or even commercial design concepts. During the course of study, the standard and manner of developing collections should be steadily increased. It is assumed that the software programs ( Adobe Suit, 3D Programs as CLO 3D or VStitcher and of course the MS office programs ) and methods customary in the industry can be mastered and applied.
