As a studio teaching assistant, we are looking for a professional designer/maker with significant knowledge in jewellery production at a small and large scale, have studied design fundamentals, developed good craftsmanship skills and interested in working with students in the larger framework of the curriculum and GIU vision.

Technical support will be required to guide students through bench techniques and demonstrations: piercing, soldering, filing, riveting and cold connections, basic stone setting and polishing. Proficiency in wax carving and casting, hollow construction and dye-forming is a plus. Sufficient experience in jewelry design processes, drawing and research skills is a must.

In overview, they will be responsible for the setup and operation of the studio and classes, schedule and deadlines. Organizational support will be required to help maintain and coordinate the studio layout and tools, provide maintenance if needed and keep track of inventory.

TA should maintain a friendly and professional relationship with all Fashion Design and Industrial Design staff at large to become an integrated and unified team for future cross-reference.

Applicant must show evidence of professional training in the field of jewelry production and business values, packaging and production. Knowledge of the history of art, jewelry and design is a plus.

Experience / requirements / skills

• Vocational training in a practical studio/proficient bench skill
• Prove of teaching activity in the above mentioned areas.
• Necessary professional experience in a jewelry business, factory, or studio.
• Communication and organizational skills.
• Flexible and versatile.
• Team player and interested in international cooperation
• Proficient English reading and writing skills
