GIU Team Qualifies for the Final Round of ECPC 2020.

The German International University – GIU team has participated for the first time in the “Egyptian Collegiate Programming Contest “- ECPC one of the biggest contests in the Middle East and the oldest and most prestigious programming contest in the world.

ECPC is a qualifying round for Africa and  Arab Collegiate Programming Championship (ACPC).GIU team has managed to surpass the qualification requirements and proceed to the ECPC where they outperformed all expectations. The team is composed of just a first-year student and two-second year students supervised by Prof. Dr. Slim Abdennadher, who is a world-renowned expert in this field and currently teaching at GIU.

Students had to work to solve the real-world problems, fostering collaboration, creativity, innovation, and the ability to perform under pressure. Through training and competition, teams challenge each other to raise the bar on the possible solutions.  

The contest was held in Alexandria, Egypt with a record-breaking number of 2847 contestants and coaches participating. The German International University (GIU), the German University in Cairo (GUC), the Arab Academy for Science Technology & Maritime Transport (AAST), Minya University, Alexandria University, Ain Shams University, and Cairo University are the sample of participating universities. Each team consists of three students who represent their university. GIU team is one of the 139 qualified teams for the final round of ECPC 2020 on November 19th, 2020.
